Tummy Tuck after Weight Loss Surgery

We’re the UK’s most trusted weight loss & cosmetic surgery provider

Celebrate a flat, smooth stomach

If you’ve lost a significant amount of weight, it’s something to celebrate! You’ll be enjoying the improvements to your body, health and quality of life. But losing a large amount of weight can leave sagging, loose skin that you may prefer to have corrected with surgery.

If weight loss has left you with excess skin in the stomach area, or ‘tummy bulges’ that are resistant to diet and exercise, tummy tuck surgery could reshape your abdomen to give you a flatter, smoother profile. It can also tighten stretched abdominal muscles so that your firmer shape can be maintained afterwards.

At The Hospital Group, we’ve not only helped our patients lose tonnes of weight over the years, we’ve also helped them refine their body shape with the help of our skilled surgeons. Cosmetic surgery with The Hospital Group could be the next stage of your journey to a new you. Get in touch and take the next step today.

Tummy tuck surgery FAQ's

Tummy tuck surgery is suitable for men and women who want to eliminate excess skin as a result of weight loss, whilst tightening the stomach area. The surgery is not in itself a means of losing weight – diet and exercise are the best way to remove unwanted fat. If diet and exercise has not enabled you to reach your target weight, and you have a BMI over 30, bariatric surgery may be a suitable procedure for you. Your surgeon will advise you which form of surgery is most suitable for you.

Yes. An incision is generally made from one hip to the other along the bikini line, which could later be covered by underwear. The scar can stretch from one side of the lower abdomen to the other depending on the size of the stomach. All scars take time to soften and fade, and this can take up to a year.

You’ll need to wear an appropriate post-surgical compression garment to aid healing. The specialist 3-panel abdominal binder can be purchased at Dolan Park Hospital, where your surgery will take place, or at selected clinics. The three panels of the binder apply the correct pressure to the abdominal area, which stops fluid building up, prevents swelling and reduces bleeding. The binder is fastened with Velcro to allow easy adjustment. Tummy tuck patients need to wear this binder for six weeks. You will be discharged in one of these post surgery, however due to the length of time the garment needs to be worn patients often feel that is better to replace the garment.

More details on Tummy tuck surgery

We want you to make a fully informed decision before you go ahead with surgery, so we offer a private consultation at your local clinic free of charge. At your consultation, you’ll meet with a cosmetic surgeon to discuss the body reshaping options available and whether tummy tuck surgery is the most suitable procedure for your needs. You’ll be able to ask questions about all aspects of the surgery, from recovery and aftercare to the results you can expect. You’ll also meet your patient care coordinator, who will be with you every step of the journey. They will give you a personal quotation of costs and information about finance options, the expected timescale, our surgical facilities and door-to-door transport services.

At your consultation, you can book your surgery if you feel ready, but there’s no obligation to go ahead. Cosmetic surgery is a big step and you may want to take time to do more research and think about your decision. We’ll give you a patient information booklet, which provides comprehensive information on your procedure and aftercare. This is an important resource and we require patients to read the detailed information it contains. You’ll also find lots of helpful information here on our website – you can read about our surgeons’ qualifications, THG’s cosmetic surgery expertise and inspiring stories from some of our patients. Our patient care coordinators are available to discuss any concerns you may have. And when you feel ready, they can book you in for your procedure. We also have a 14-day ‘cooling off’ period in place, which means that if you change your mind about the procedure after booking within that period, you will not be charged.
