Face and neck lift surgery is most suitable for patients who have jowls, loose neck skin and a general saggy appearance to the skin on the face and neck. If you also have wrinkles, non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatment can be combined with a facelift to help improve the overall result.
Face and neck lift surgery usually takes around 4 hours under general anaesthetic.
Following the procedure, you’ll need to stay in hospital for one or two nights.
Yes, if that’s what you need. Your surgeon will advise on the best treatment for your requirements. As well as the face and neck lift, we offer eyelid surgery, eye bag removal or brow lift.
Most of the scars will be hidden within your hair and the normal creases of your skin. During a facelift, incisions are made in the natural crease lines in front of the ear, behind the earlobes and along the lower scalp. If you have eye surgery, an incision is made close to the natural crease of the eyelid. In both procedures, post-operative scarring will fade over time.
We want you to make a fully informed decision before you go ahead with surgery, so we offer a private consultation at your local clinic free of charge. At your consultation, you’ll meet with a cosmetic surgeon to discuss the facial surgery options available and whether face and neck lift surgery is the most suitable procedure for your needs. You’ll be able to ask questions about all aspects of the surgery, from bespoke combinations with eye or brow surgery to aftercare and the results you can expect. You’ll also meet your patient care coordinator, who will be with you every step of the journey. They will give you a personal quotation of costs and information about finance options, the expected timescale, our surgical facilities and door-to-door transport services.
At your consultation, you can book your surgery if you feel ready, but there’s no obligation to go ahead. Cosmetic surgery is a big step and you may want to take time to do more research and think about your decision. We’ll give you a patient information booklet, which provides comprehensive information on your procedure and aftercare. This is an important resource and we require patients to read the detailed information it contains. You’ll also find lots of helpful information here on our website – you can read about our surgeons’ qualifications, THG’s cosmetic surgery expertise and inspiring stories from some of our patients. Our patient care coordinators are available to discuss any concerns you may have. And when you feel ready, they can book you in for your procedure. We also have a 14-day ‘cooling off’ period in place, which means that if you change your mind about the procedure after booking within that period, you will not be charged.
On the day of your surgery, your medical team will make your experience as comfortable as possible and you’ll meet your surgeon again before the procedure. Face and neck lift surgery involves making incisions, which normally begin above the hairline at the temples, follow the natural line in front of the ear, curve behind the earlobe and along the lower scalp. Facial and neck tissue and muscle are then separated, fat may be trimmed or suctioned and underlying muscle may be tightened. The excess skin is pulled up and back, trimmed and sutured into position.
We’ll be here throughout the recovery process to help you recuperate quickly. For face and neck lift surgery you may need to stay in the hospital where your surgery has taken place for one or two nights following your procedure. Each patient is given a personalised care plan, developed on the advice of their surgeon. All THG hospitals are equipped to the highest standards of clinical care and patient comfort. Following your surgery, the initial bruising should last 7-10 days, so it’s advisable to have some time at home before returning to work or normal activities.
At THG, we offer a free package of aftercare support with all our cosmetic surgery procedures to give you complete peace of mind. You’ll benefit from the following aftercare: · Unlimited post-op appointments with a member of our clinical team whenever you need them · Surgical cover for 3 years – revision surgery where clinically indicated · Additional days’ stay in hospital where needed · Additional medication and dressings at no extra cost · Emergency telephone support, which you can use at any time.
