‘My journey started with a Patient Advisor consultation, who arranged everything for me including my travel from Torquay to The Dolan Park Hospital in Birmingham. Before the op, my dietitian advised that I needed to do a 1000 calorie a day diet for two weeks to help shrink my liver to lower my risks of any complications.
On the day of my surgery, The Hospital Group staff were all really friendly, I felt as though nothing was too much trouble and I was really impressed with how the anaesthetist put me at ease. Following my procedure, to make sure I was okay, the nurse arranged for my dietitian to call me to help with any questions I might have about my diet. Since then my dietitian calls me every 4 weeks to see how I am getting on.
Since my gastric bypass surgery, in just 4 months I have lost over 6 stone, going from XXL to a L and a 46-inch waist to a 36. Now I have so much more energy and I don’t feel sluggish like I did before.
I enjoy going to the gym and socialising. All my family and friends have been supportive and to be honest they can't believe my results. I used to hate having my photo taken but now I don’t mind at all, I look and feel like a new man!
If I was to give one piece of advice to someone considering weight loss surgery, I would say make sure you do your homework and take your time, so you know it is the right decision for you.’
