“I first heard about gastric sleeve surgery when I started a new job, and a lady there said she’d lost 8 stone. My ears instantly pricked up because I was so miserable trying – and failing – to diet, meanwhile my weight was creeping up and up.
“I started to research surgery options but because I was only 20 my parents were naturally concerned that this wasn’t the right thing to do. I’d spoken to a friend who’d had it done and then came across The Hospital Group, who were brilliant and offered plenty of no obligation discussions with a surgeon before committing. This was a huge help, and even my dad went along for a chat with the surgeon which really put his mind at ease. The Hospital Group really felt like a company I could trust.
“In the weeks leading up to the surgery I had to stick to a strict diet to prepare my body for the procedure. I was quite concerned about how I’d manage this, but in fact it was a breeze! I felt very positive and realised that each day was a step closer to the surgery I was so desperate for.
“On the day of the surgery I was quite apprehensive, but the hospital staff were really lovely and did everything they could to comfort me – the service was extremely personal. The procedure didn’t take long, and I was back home after a few days, adjusting to my new lifestyle. The Hospital Group made sure I had daily contact with dieticians to ensure I knew what I could and couldn’t eat. It takes a while to get the hang of your new diet but I felt like I had plenty of support.
“I don’t think I’ll ever be able to put into words what the surgery has done for me. It’s made me realise just how unhappy I was beforehand, and how my weight controlled every aspect of my life. I’ve dropped 12 stone (7 dress sizes!) and I’m so much happier, confident and feel more fulfilled. It hasn’t been an easy journey – the surgery is the beginning of a complete lifestyle change, but if you’re willing to commit to the advice of the doctors, your results can be amazing.
“I’d absolutely recommend The Hospital Group for this procedure. They have been fantastic from the very beginning, settling any concerns my family had and always being available to answer any questions. I have no regrets whatsoever – it’s changed my life!”
