Tattoos really are a permanant investment, but many people find that the choices they made do not suit later on.  It may be the removal of an ex's name, a cartoon, barbed wire or a pawprint that no longer suits you.  For some people, it's more about removing an old tattoo to make way for a new one! 

They are almost impossible to get rid of naturally. Creams can be very aggressive, grafting is painful.  Laser vein treatment provides a very successful option in terms of reducing and removing unwanting tattoos.

The final result depends very much on the tattoo - how big it is, what colour etc and also your response to the treatment - which is individual.  However, most patients are reassured to see a difference in the first session.

What does it feel like?

People's reaction to the experience does vary.  If you have already had a tattoo put on, then you have probably already experienced some pain and discomfort in the area.  Most patients experience a stinging sensation as the pulses of energy is delivered through the hand piece. Some describe it as a burning sensation, for others it's not quite so severe.  Following the treatment, the pain is minimal to nonexistent.

How many treatments will I need?

It is reassuring that most patients will notice some fading after the first treatment, (though you may need to compare it to a photograph to see how much!).  However, a course should definitely be expected and this may be 8-12 treatments.  The number of treatments necessary depends on the number, colour, and size of the tattoo being treated.

Are there any restrictions on my activity after treatment?

Patients generally resume most normal activities immediately. However, it is recommended that you avoid vigorous activities such as strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after treatment. The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun. As always, it is a good idea to limit your sun exposure.
