Which sports bra do you recommend?

Bra 200After breast surgery, we generally recommend a special post-operative bra.  These are specially designed for use after surgery, providing the right pressure and support for your breasts, with comfortable soft shoulder straps and front fastenings which you will find invaluable after surgery.  The needs of supporting post-operative breasts and new implants are very different from those for a game of squash!  Very occasionally, your surgeon may recommend something different and specific.  Do take the surgeon's advice, but feel free to ask any questions at any stage.

 

You can buy post-operative bras online and save 10%, or purchase in your local clinic or at hospital when you arrive for surgery. 

 

We also offer a 2nd stage post-operative bra, which is worn from 2-6 weeks, when less pressure is needed, but support is very important to the healing process and finished result.

How long is your cosmetic surgery offer on for?

Our latest cosmetic surgery offer lasts until the end of December 2009. You do not need to have your procedure by then but it will need to be paid for by then.

Can I have invisible braces if I am 17 years old?

I'm afraid you will need to wait until you are 18 years old before we can consult you for invisible braces.

Can I have a boob job AND lipo together at the same time?

Yes, you can.  In fact, if you book 2 procedures to be had at the same time, you will get 30% off the lower priced procedure.

 

There is a limit to the amount of surgery you can have at any one time and this will be subject to medical review and individual requirements.  However, you should certainly be able to have lipo and a breast augmentation at the same time as these are relatively straightforward procedures.

Why is your name removed from SoFeminine - should I be worried?

Can I keep having a gastric band a secret?

That is entirely your choice. Many of our gastric band patients see weight-loss surgery as the last resort and choose only to tell a close friend relative or spouse. You will still be able to eat a "normal" diet but in much smaller portions. Having a gastric band is nothing to be ashamed of, but everything you discuss with us will be kept completely confidential.

How long will I be peeling for after having a TCA chemical peel?

Generally after having a TCA peel people can shed skin for approximately 3-5 days.

I've heard DHT can cause hair loss, what does this stand for?

DHT is di-hydroxytestosterone which is a substance in the body that slows down or stops hair growth. A lot of our hair transplant patients suffer with DHT.

When can I take off my abdo binder following a tummy tuck?

The abdominal binder should be worn until you are 4 weeks post tummy tuck. This is essential for the wound to heal and to maximise result.

I'm thinking of having a male breast reduction, but I'm embarrassed about what the scars will look like, are they bad?

No scarring from a male breast reduction is pretty minimal. The cosmetic surgeon will position the incisions so that scars will be as neat as possible. These will also fade over time.

How much weight can I expect to lose after having a gastric band?

It is important to stress that every gastric band patient is different and will lose a varying amount of weight in the first few months post-surgery. Most people lose 1-2 pounds each week, with some losing more than that. The degree of weight-loss can also be measured by how well your clothes fit.

How soon after having a tummy tuck can I have a bath?

You can gave a bath 4 weeks post tummy tuck as long as the wound has healed properly.

How long after having a gastric band can I start taking my birth control pill?

After having a gastric band you should wait at least a week before you begin taking your contraceptive pill.

Can I have a face lift and a rhinoplasty at the same time?

No I'm afraid you cannot have these two procedures at the same time. If performed together, a facelift and a rhinoplasty would produce too much facial swelling so we recommend to have them separately.

I have a BMI of 50, is this too high for a gastric band?

No this isn't too high for a gastric band, we do perform the procedure on patients with a BMI of 50. It may be an idea to also consider the gastric bypass but we will discuss all options with you at consultation.

What age do have to be to have liposuction?

To have liposuction or liposculpture you need to be 18 years old. All of our cosmetic surgery procedures are only carried out on people over the age of 18.

Is a sports bra suitable to wear after breast surgery and can you recommend a brand?

Some patients do buy sports bras from main retail outlets, although we do recommend our own surgical bras that have been manufactured especially for post-surgical care and recovery. The retail sports bras offer a cheap alternative but do not provide the compression required for breast enlargement and breast uplift patients.

What is the average price for your NuSmile veneers?

Each and every case is different so it is very difficult to give an average price for our dental veneers. We charge £495 per veneer (upper) and £395 per veneer (lower). At the very start of your treatment your cosmetic dentist will set out a treatment plan and will tell you exactly what treatment you require and the costs involved.

I have wrinkles around my eyes, what do you recommend for this?

BOTOX™ is a great way to reduce wrinkles around the eyes, however you should go and see a non-surgical nurse for a consultation to double check this. Our consultations for BOTOX™ are free and available nationwide.

Yes you can have a brow lift and eyelid surgery at the same time.

Do you offer a course of skin peels?

Yes we do offer courses of skin peels. Depending on the strength of peel required we can offer up to a course of 6.

How long do I wear the dressing for after ear reshaping?

After an ear reshaping procedure the dressing is applied in theatre and should then be worn for 7-10 days.

Do you offer drug therapy methods for hair loss as well as hair transplantation?

Yes we do offer drug therapy as well as hair transplant procedures. The drugs we offer are Propecia and Dutasteride.

I've had a gastric band and recently become pregnant, what do I do?

Gastric band patients who become pregnant should have their band aspirated by week 12. Contact your local clinic and make an appointment with a nurse.The nurse now tends to leave 2 - 2.5 ml in the band so the position is maintained but restriction is minimal. The gastric band can then be filled either 6 weeks post giving birth or after breast feeding.

My sister and I are coming in to have breast augmentations, can we stay in the same room?

Yes this is possible. We have one extra large room which accomodates two people who are having cosmetic surgery or obesity surgery at the same time. Just ask the hospital at the time of booking and this can be arranged.

I think I might need a breast uplift, but would like implants to increase the size of my breasts, can you do this?

Yes of course, we call this a mastopexy with implants. It is a very popular procedure. Many women sometimes think they need just a breast enlargement but often a cosmetic surgeon will recommend a mastopexy (breast uplift) with implants instead, especially for women who have had children or have lost a lot of weight.

What does it mean when your gastric band needs to be

When a gastric band is aspirated this means that all, or almost all of the fluid is removed from the lap band itself.

How long after having a male breast reduction can you play sport?

After a male breast reduction playing any sport, particularly contact sports should be avoided for at least one month. Heavy lifting should also be avoided for 14 days in order to get the most out of your recovery process.

I want liposuction on my sides and my tummy, what is the scarring like?

Scarring from liposuction is very minimal. The scar left is approximately a quarter of an inch and this will gradually fade over time.

Yes we do offer anatomical implants. The ones we would recommend are the Natrelle™ implants, although they are a little more expensive they carry a lifetime guarantee.

Yes you do, if you refer a friend or family member to THG we offer you gift vouchers or skincare products as a thank you. Can men have tummy tucks?

Yes men are eligible for tummy tucks. Some men who have lost a considerable amount of weight often opt to have a tummy tuck to correct their saggy and loose skin.

Can I have Botox and fillers at the same time?

Yes you can, a non-surgical nurse will advise you further but it is perfectly safe to have BOTOX™ and fillers in one treatment.

How long will I be in theatre for a nose job?

This can vary, but usually a rhinoplasty should take no longer than 1 hour and 30 minutes.

A tummy tuck starts from £4,595. This is the price for a mini abdo and at your consultation your surgeon will explain the differences between a mini and a full abdo or tummy tuck. A full abdominoplasty in £5,095. Both prices include 3 years aftercare.

How long do I need to stay in hospital for when I have a nose job?

A nose job, or commonly referred to as a rhinoplasty, only requires a one night stay in hospital.

I've heard of a "BIB" procedure, what does this mean?

The "BIB" is the gastric balloon, an obesity surgery procedure. The acronym stands for BioEnterics™ Intragastric Balloon.

We ask for a £500 deposit to secure your bed space and then don't ask for a penny until 2 weeks before your procedure date.

How long will I need to take off work after a gastric band, and is this classed as sick leave?

We recommend that you take 1-2 weeks off work after your gastric band procedure. If you have young children it may be good to consider asking a family member or friend to help you with them. This time, unfortunately, is not usually classed as sick leave.

Can Nusmile be fitted over tradional veneers?

We can fit NuSmile veneers over traditional veneers, however we would advise you to some for a cosultation with one of our cosmetic dentists for their opinion on what the final result will look like and what we can do to achieve your desired look.

Do you have to be a certain age before you are considered for plastic or cosmetic surgery?

Yes you have to be 18 years old before you can be considered for cosmetic surgery. After you have turned 18, we can then book you in to have a consultation with one of our plastic surgeons to discuss the procedure in detail and then you can make your decsion.

I want a boob job but how do I know what size implants to have?

Our cosmetic surgeons can now perform a consultation using technology called Bio Dynamics - this involves taking numerous measurements of your breasts pre-surgery and by inputting these measurements into the computer, they are able to show you a computerised image of what your breast might look like and what implant size you could have. We also have specialist vests for you to try on with the appropriate implants so you can see what you might look like after your breast augmentation. This will give you an idea of how big you would like to go.

How old do I have to be to have teeth whitening?

I'm afraid at The Hospital Group you need to be 18 years old before we can perform any surgical, non-surgical and dental treatment on you, this includes teeth whitening.

I have a lot of sagging skin from extreme weight loss, and would like a full body lift. Can I have all the procedures done at the same time?

No I'm afraid not, this would not be good for the body and you would lose too much blood. All the cosmetic surgery procedures to correct sagging skin would be major procedures and therefore need to be carried out one at a time.

How long does BOTOX™ take to work?

BOTOX™ can take up to two weeks in order for the full effect of the injection to show. The procedure itself only takes a few minutes and the result can last up to 6 months.

Can you still have a hair transplant if my natural hairline appears to be receeding?

Hair transplantation is an option if you want to tweak your natural hair line to fill in the recessions and also if you want lower the hair line slightly, but for more definitive answer a consultation with one of our hair specialists would be highly recommended.

Can you change the size and shape of ear lobes in an otoplasty?

This will depend on the cosmetic surgeon and on the individual case in question. You would need to book a consultation to know for definite. Our consultations are free of charge and you are under no obligation.

Does having laser eye surgery affect you having an upper eye lift?

No it doesn't, if you have had laser eye surgery to correct a vision impairment you can still have cosmetic surgery on your eyes. It would be recommended to wait 6-8 weeks but after that you should be fine to go ahead with an upper blepheroplasty (eye lid lift).

How much do you charge to have a mole removed?

Mole removal is £500 - any additional moles after that would cost £200 per mole.

How much is BOTOX™?

BOTOX™ starts from £149 per area. The number of areas required depends on the patient. A non-surgcial nurse will consult you before your treatment and she will advise on the number of areas needed.

I've heard you can insert an implant through the nipple, is this correct?

Yes this is correct, it is a technique we occasionally use when performing a breast enlargement. A cosmetic surgeon will sometimes insert the implant through the nipple if the patient is also having a nipple lift at the same time.

Do I need to take time off work after I have a breast augmentation?

Yes we advise that you do take time off work after a breast augmentation. Approximately 7-10 days or longer if your job requires a lot heavy lifting or carrying. You will need to rest and take it easy to ensure you do not jeopardise your recovery after your breast augmentation

How long does it take to perform a hair transplant?

A hair transplant procedure, on average,will take approximately 3-4 hours depending on the number of grafts required.

What is a band fill?

A band fill is the adjustment of a gastric band. This process involves fluid being injected into the port, the gastric band then inflates and tightens itself and results in the stoma (opening) between the upper and lower parts of the stomach, becoming smaller. This enables less food to pass through. Fluid can also be withdrawn from the lap band, which has the opposite effect, if weight-loss needs to be slowed down or restriction is too tight.

I've just had teeth whitening, which foods and drinks should I stay away from?

Up to a week after having a teeth whitening treatment you should avoid in particular coffee, red wine, beetroot and curry - any food or drink which has a high stain risk.

What happens to your belly button when you have a tummy tuck?

Due to the excess skin that is removed during a tummy tuck it is very common, and in most cases necessary, for the belly button to be moved and reconstructed to appear natural again. Where the skin has sagged either through extreme weight-loss or post-pregnancy, the skin around the belly button starts to sag too and lose its shape so this is corrected in theatre as part of the tummy tuck.

Can I have liposuction on my thighs and my calves?

Yes you can have liposuction on both areas, your thighs and calves.

I've heard a gastric balloon has to be removed? When is this?

A gastric balloon must be removed 6 months after your operation date. Unlike the other two procedures, gastric band and gastric bypass, the gastric balloon is only seen as a temporary measure to kick start better motovation with portion control and healthier eating. The idea is after 6 months the patient will adapt to a new and improved dietary regime.

I'm only 28 but already feel self-conscious about the wrinkles on my face, what treatment do you recommend?

If you want a wrinkle smoothing procedure then it sounds like BOTOX™ might be the best treatment for you. If you feel very self-conscious about your wrinkles it would be a good idea to book a consultation with a non-surgical nurse and discuss the matter with her and she can advise the best options available.

Do you offer cheek implants?

We do not offer cheek implants in the UK at the moment, but we can carry out this procedure at our Marbella hospital if a patient is willing to travel to Spain.

I want a breast reduction but have been told I cannot have one if my BMI is over 30, is this correct?

At The Hospital Group we operate a breast reduction on patients who have a BMI of 35 or under.

I'm interested in having filler injected in my lips, how long does this treatment take?

This treatment would take approximately 20-30 minutes. We would inject Juvederm Ultra filler into the lips.

Which breast implants do you recommend, round or anatomical?

The size and shape of the breast implants are very specific to each individual patient. A cosmetic surgeon will recommend an implant shape and size at the point of consultation.

I live in Portsmouth, can I have cosmetic surgery at your Southampton clinic?

All of our cosmetic surgery procedures are carried out at our own private hospital in the Midlands, near Birmingham. You would have your consultation in Southampton and then we arrange a chauffeur to pick you up on the morning of your surgery and drive you to the hospital. Transport is also arranged to take you home when you are discharged.

How many nights do I need to stay in hospital for a gastric band?

Gastric band patients are normally in hospital for just one night.

Do you carry out a facelift with eyelid surgery?

Yes we do, if a patient wants to have both procedures we can carry out a facelift and upper eyelid surgery at the same time.

Was the BBC3 Big Decision filmed at The Hospital Group?

Yes, BBC3 filmed a breast augmentation consultation and procedure as part of their "Big Decision" programme.  The teenagers were able to ask questions and learn all about the procedure to help them decide whether they wanted to go ahead with it when they are old enough.  You do have to be 18 to have a cosmetic surgery procedure with The Hospital Group.

Do I need to have a general anaesthetic for a hair transplant?

No hair transplants are a day case procedure and only require a local anaesthetic.

Do you stock any skin firming cream which helps with cellulite?

Yes we do, we have recently stocked Liposome CFT, this cream can be used alongside liposuction or as a cream on its own which has great effects of problematic areas, such as thighs, bum and upper arms.

I've heard that Botox can be injected under the arms to stop excess sweating, is this true?

Yes this is true, a series of Botox injections are made under the arm. We carry out this procedure at The Hospital Group and its called hyperhidrosis.

Do I need to come off the pill if I have a breast enlargement?

No, you will not need to come off the pill if you have a standard breast enlargement.

What is the price difference between a breast uplift and a breast augmentation?

A breast uplift (£4,795) is more expensive than a breast augmentation (from £3,695). An uplift is a more complicated procedure and requires more time in theatre. If you want a breast uplift with implants prices start from £5,095.

What is the scarring like after you've had a rhinoplasty?

Scarring after a rhinoplasty is often undetectable as the incisions are usually made from inside the nose. Very occasionally a surgeon will operate on the the outside of the nose but will always try and keep scarring to a minimum.

I have awful bingo wings and want to get rid of them - what cosmetic surgery procedure do you recommend?

We would recommend an arm lift for patients who are suffering witha lot of excess fat in the upper arm region. Sometimes the surgeon may adopt the technique of minimal incision using asymmetric eclipse. The incisions are made in the most inconspicuous locations and excess tissue is removed, thus reducing arm circumference. Liposuction is sometimes used to draw out the excess fat.

Does it matter where the surgeon place the implant in a breast enlargement, I've been told my implant will sit under the muscle but my friend had hers on top of the muscle?

The cosmetic surgeon will decide where it is appropriate for each breast augmentation patient's implants to be inserted, both in front of and behind the muscle positionings are very common.This usually depends on how much breast tissue a patient has pre-surgery. How old do you have to be to have your dental veneers?

You would have your consultation at our Belfast clinic with one of our obesity consultants and patient care co-ordinators. The operation would then be carried out either at our Dolan Park Hospital near Birmingham or at another private hospital in Leeds. This depends on your BMI (Body Mass Index).

Can a gastric band be removed?

Yes the gastric band is a reversible procedure. If you want to you can have it removed. Sharon Osbourne did just that, she had a gastric band and then later had it removed when she had reached her goal weight. This would be a big decision to make however, and should not be made quickly as it would require a lot of self-motivation from the patient.

I'm having garment on my thighs, what garment do I need to wear?

After your liposuction procedure you will need to wear a girdle for the first few weeks post-surgery. We supply you with one to be discharged in at the hospital, however we recommend you buy a second to ensure you are always wearing a clean garment. You can purchase them online or at the hospital.

I hear that Botox is priced per area, how do I know how many areas I will need?

Before you have your Botox injection you will have a consultation with one of our non-surgical nurse practitioners. They will discuss how many areas you need and. Some patient have just one area, others have up to fours areas of Botox.

Can I have lipo on my man boobs?

Yes you can, if you suffer from excess fatty tissue around the chest area we can perform a gynaecomastia, or otherwise known as a male breast reduction. The surgeon can drain out the excess fat and tighten the skin.

Do I need to stop smoking before having a boob job?

Yes you do. We advise that you do try to stop smoking 4 weeks prior to your breast enlargement and 2 weeks post surgery. The reason for this is that smoking reduces the blood supply to the wound and can interfere with the healing process. Nicotine patches and gum are also not allowed.

I know you do hair transplants but can you also do eyebrow transplants?

Yes this is possible, we do carry out hair transplants on the eyebrows. We are beginning to do more and more of these procedures on patients who have overplucked their eyebrows, suffered with alopecia, or simply have eyebrow hair that is very fair. I had a nipple reduction and breast augmentation and my breast implant was inserted through the nipple, if I want my implants replaced can this be done under my breast?

This could be a possibility, however you would need to go back to your cosmetic surgeon and check that this is the case. He will discuss with you the various options and how he'll keep scarring to a minimum.

My son has Down's Syndrome and is overweight, would he be able to have a gastric balloon?

Unfortunately operating within the private sector we are obliged to ensure that any patient is able to fully understand and consent to any procedure. Our team of medical professionals therefore advise regretably, that it is not suitable to operate the gastric balloon on a Down's Syndrome patient.

I have terrible teeth and am embarrassed to smile. I have gaps, staining, uneven teeth - the lot! Is there any hope for me?

Yes!  Many of our cosmetic dentistry patients have serious problems which need to be fixed.  If you have gaps in your teeth, these can be filled with crowns to match your other teeth.  White fillings can be used where necessary and are invisible once in place.  Uneven teeth can be gently and effectively straightened by invisible braces which literally can't be seen in use.  Veneers can also hide irregularities and you may complete your treatment with whitening.

What does MPB stand for?

When can you start eating solid foods after having a gastric band?

Following you gastric band procedure you can begin to eat soft foods such as scrambled egg, cottage pie, porridge etc after just 2 weeks. After 4 weeks you can then move on to "normal eating" but discuss your daily food intake with your dietician.

Will the gastric band leave me with much scarring?

Scarring from the gastric band is usually very minimal. If the lap band is inserted laparoscopically you will have a series of one inch scars as well as a slightly larger scar for the port placement. These scars tend to heal very well and over time will be barely visible.

I have terrible crows feet, do I need a face lift?

Botox is usually a good enough treatment to reduce crows feet. It smooths out the lines to produce a much more youthful appearance.

I've always wanted to have straigher teeth but don't want metal braces on my teeth - how do your clear braces work?

Clear braces work in a similar sort of way to metal brackets, they apply pressure to the teeth where required in order to give you the alignment you've always wanted. You also have none of the irritation of normal metal braces as these are metal and wire free. You can also remove them to give your teeth a good clean twice daily.

What is a "mastopexy"?

A "mastopexy" is the surgical term for a breast uplift. When breasts become saggy women frequently have a mastopexy instead of a breast enlargement. Often, however women also want to increase the size of their breasts so in this instance we insert breast implants, for an all round uplifted and fuller bust.

What can be done to plump up my lips, both top and bottom are really thin?

A very popular treatment is our Juvederm Ultra filler which is injected into the lips to create a fuller effect. It can be injected into both the top and bottom lip and will last approximately 6-9 months. Do all gastric bands require a general anaesthetic?

Yes the gastric band procedure does involve having a general anaesthetic although it is only keyhole surgery. If patients are scared of general anaesthetics we do have the option of gastric balloon, this is normally the preferred method for lower BMI patients.

My teeth are stained through smoking and drinking too much coffee, is your teeth whitening safe?

Our teeth whitening treatment is safe, we do not jeopardise the tooth's enamel like some whitening treatments. We offer both chairside teeth whitening carried out by a cosmetic dentist or home teeth whitening kits.

Although I participate in exercise I still have "love handles" which I just cannot shift, what procedure can I have?

This is very common and the cosmetic surgery procedure to reduce love handles is liposculpture. Almost identical to liposuction in that fat is drawn out of the body through a cannula (small tube), but it requires more skill from the surgeon to create a smoother and sculpted end result.

I have one breast which is a lot bigger than the other, can you perform a breast reduction on my larger breast?

Yes that is possible, our cosmetic surgeons have performed many procedures on patients with asymmetric breasts. Some patients then have breast implants inserted into both breasts to give them a better look or shape. Your surgeon will discuss with you the various options available.

How long will I be in theatre for a breast enlargement?

How do you make breasts bigger?

Ive been left with a small dent/hole on my forehead and am very self conscious of it is there any treatment that can be done to fill in the hole?

Our filler Juvederm® Ultra can be used. The little pot hole needs to be irritated slightly under the skin with a needle to dislodge the scar tissue and then filler goes into the space. This can leave a bit of bruising but the method is quite effective. One of non-surgical nurses would need to consult you prior to treatment so they can assess your suitability for the treatment and skin type.

Am I eligible for liposuction?

The best candidates for liposculpture, or liposuction, are those who have a relatively normal weight, with pockets of localised fat, which is resistant to exercise and diet. Patients should be healthy with realistic expectations of the procedure. If this describes you, then liposculpture could be a suitable option, however liposculpture is not a weight loss procedure and is not the answer to obesity problems.

I suffer from terrible eye bags, what cosmetic surgery procedure will help me get rid of them?

This procedure is called lower blepheroplasty, or more commonly known as eye bag removal. Some people initially think they need a face lift but often this is the procedure they need to combat saggy skin under the eyes. An the incision is made along and under the lower lashes to remove the excess fat, excess skin and muscle are then trimmed away.

Do I need a doctor's letter to have a gastric band?

No not necessarily. When you express interest to book your gastric band procedure, one of our nurses will go through your medical file and will only write to your doctor if they feel they need more information or if something causes concern which could jeopradise you having the gastric band.

Will you be able to see any ugly scarring after I've had male breast reduction?

There will be scarring after a male breast reduction procedure, although the surgeon will keep these scars to a minimum by strategically making the incision. These scars will gradually fade and soften over a 12 month period.

How long will I need to need to take off work in order to fully recover from breast surgery?

Following breast enlargement, breast uplift or breast reduction you should take approximately 2 weeks off work, depending on your occupation. However, you should avoid any strenuous activity for 4-6 weeks after your operation.

Where would my boob job be carried out?

For your operation, you can choose to have our optional transport to and from the hospital at an extra charge. 

 

Although most operations take place in our own facility, some operations do take place in other centres around the country.  The best option is to discuss your requirements with a Patient Care Coordinator.

I need a tummy tuck but I'm worried about scarring badly, can you help?

The quality of the scar depends on the skin of the patient. For a few months it will be quite visible, but the tendency is to fade. Occasionally patients produce excessive scar tissue, it maybe prominent (hypertrophic scar, keloid). This scarring is rare in Caucasian (white) patients, but slightly more common in non-caucasian patients.

Both eyelid surgery and eyebag surgery can be done at the same time, the surgical names for them are upper and lower blepheroplasty. To have both done at the same time costs from £3,195.

How long will it take me to recover from blepheroplasty?

It will take approximately 2-3 weeks for all bruising to die down after your operation. This can depend on the scale of your eye lid/bag surgery so this will be a good question to ask your surgeon at consultation.

What happens after I've had my nose job?

After your rhinoplasty a plaster cast is applied and should be left on for 7-10 days after your operation. Swelling and bruising around the eyes is very normal at this stage so do not become alarmed.

Is there any link between having breast implants and breast cancer?

There is no evidence that suggests having a breast enlargement or having breast implants causes breast cancer. However when you do go for a mammogram it is important you mention your procedure to the radiographer.

I've heard of breast augmentation, is this the same as a breast enlargement?

Yes it is, a breast augmentation procedure is exactly the same as a breast enlargement, implants are inserted in order to increase the size of the breasts.

Where will my breast implants be placed?

The implants can be positioned under the mammary gland or under the pectoralis muscle, this can depend on the size of the implant and the amount of breast tissue the patient has. The cosmetic surgeon will discuss this with you at your consultation.

Will I need to stay over night in hospital for my tummy tuck?

For a tummy tuck, otherwise known as an abdominoplasty, yes you will need to stay overnight in hospital. In fact we recommend you two nights in our care.

Probably not after a breast uplift. During the procedure the milk ducts are cut in most cases when the breasts are being repositioned preventing breast feeding in the future.

Where will my hair transplant take place?

All of our hair restorartion treatments take place at our Worcestershire based private hospital, Dolan Park. Will I have to stay in hospital overnight if I have a hair transplant?

No you do not have to stay overnight if you are having hair transplantation. This is a day case procedure, if you come in in the morning, you will be going home that afternoon.

Yes this is possible to have. A gastric bypass patient can have a gastric band if approved by a bariatric surgeon.

How do I know if I qualify for a gastric band?

If you are 18 or over and overweight , there is a chance or will qualify for a gastric band, however it is dependent upon your BMI (Body Mass Index), this can be calculated if you click on the link below. A gastric band will start from £6,950. If you are not eligible for a gastric band, our other two weight-loss options are the gastric balloon or gastric bypass.

I'm 17 and overweight, can I qualify for a gastric band?

Unfortunately we only carry out gastric bands and all other weight-loss surgery procedures on patients who are aged 18 or over. If you are struggling with weight issues we would recommend you make an appointment to see your GP and discuss various weight management options with them first. If at the age of 18 you are still considering a gastric band, we would be happy to book you in for a consultation and assess whether you are eligible for an obesity surgery procedure.

What happens during an ear reshaping procedure?

An incision is made on the back of the ear, surgical techniques such as cartilage removal and reshaping can be performed to create the desired look. This procedure can be done on one or both ears, as needed.

What do I eat immediately after a gastric bypass?

Immediately after a gastric bypass procedure it is important you have a liquid only diet for the first 4 weeks. You will have regular contact with a dietician who will take you through what and what not to eat/drink. It is also important rest immediately after the procedure and take approximately 1-2 weeks off work.

What is the Gastric Balloon - I've never heard of it!

The gastric balloon is a temporary weight loss management procedure to help you kick-start your healthy lifestyle.  The balloon itself is inserted into the stomach, and then inflated with saline so that you feel less hungry.  It will stay in place for 7 months to help you learn the habits of healthy eating, after which time it is removed.
