Here is our weight-loss surgery patient Sharon Isaac! Sharon was presented by The
Hospital Group with an award and clothing vouchers to celebrate her achievement
in weight loss over the last 18 months!
Sharon weighed in at almost 20 stone and
has since plummeted to just over 10 stone!
The Hospital Group treated over 1000 obese people in 2007 with an estimated total
weight
loss of 30 tonnes and will double that in 2008! Many of our specialist team
have undergone obesity surgery themselves.
There are many things that can lead to obesity and morbid obesity. Here we list

Sharon Isaac - Weight Loss Surgery Star 2008!
Sharon, who is now 39 years old, decided to consider weight loss surgery after a
suspected stroke. Her husband called 999 and when the ambulance came the two male
paramedics were unable to lift the stretcher Sharon was on. Although this scare
was not as serious as it first appeared, she was diagnosed with having dangerously
high cholesterol levels, which could quite easily have led to a life-threatening
heart attack.
With her family and her own personal health in mind, she opted to have the
Gastric Band fitted. Now a year later, Sharon is fighting fit, extremely active
and regularly takes her son swimming and is loving every minute! She has now learned
to work with her band and it's enabled her to control her food portions once and
for all.

Julie lost an astonishing 17 stone! Read her story of how she had been looking for
a year to find obesity surgery in Britain and the reason that finally made her decide
to have a gastric band.
Julie’s friends and family are all delighted with her progress and very proud of
her for her achievement. She says they have got their daughter back!

"My weight problem started at around the age of fifteen. My weight gradually increased
over the years. By the time I reached my eighteenth birthday, I realised I needed
to lose weight, and fast! I decided to join a gym and crash dieted on tinned tomatoes
and dry toast! This intense, strict regime worked because in less than six months
I had lost over three stone and felt great. I thought my weight problem was over.
I then met my husband at the age of twenty two, and fell into the trap of becoming
too comfortable in my relationship, before I knew it I had put on all the weight
I had originally lost."

Andy has now successfully lost many stones in weight and this has had a positive
impact on his personality and he is no longer self conscious about his weight and appearance.
Andy struggled with his weight from an early age. Over many years he tried all sorts
of diets and exercise. He did lose weight with some of the diets and exercise, but always put the weight back on.

After giving up smoking and eating too much in the evening Jane's weight increased.
Even with dieting, swiming and walking she continued to put on weight.
Jane was originaly going to have a Gastric Band but she was too large so instead
she had a Gastric Bypass procedure. After losing 14 Stones she says life is so much
better and she now says she "eats to live and not lives to eat!".

Becky has always struggled with her weight ever since she was a child. As an adult
she has tried all manner of pills and diets - and even hypnotherapy!
After her procedure Becky has much more energy, and is now more involved with
her daughter as they now do a lot more together like walking and swimming. She has
had a boost to her confidence and her addiction to food is now controlled.

When Jackie was at her brother-in-laws wedding she was first made aware of her size.
She felt fat compared to everyone else at the wedding party.
Following this, she made an appointment to see her GP to seek his advice after she
saw an article in a magazine about the Gastric Band. Her GP didn't know much about
gastric band surgery so she rang The Hospital Group for advice.

its hard to believe a little device as small as my hand can change my life!"

At least 'yet another diet', will bite the dust, after all it's not cheap and it’s
a little more serious than the 'grapefruit diet'!...."
