Desperate to beat his childhood obesity, Neill tried every diet going. But nothing seemed to work.

Neill explains: It all came to a head when I realised that even my extra large clothes didn't fit me. It had reached a point where people treated me differently; I got a lot of negative comments and people just didn't want to talk to me.

In August 2006, Neill got in touch with The Hospital Group and was fitted with a gastric band. He hasn't looked back since the procedure.

I'm much more active and can shop at mainstream clothes shops. I get more attention when I'm out at night, and so many compliments on my new look. I'm out clubbing and people actually come up and chat me up!

The only bad thing was that I had to throw all my fat clothes out, but I suppose that wasn't that bad a thing!

Would he recommend surgery? A hundred per cent yes. I'd recommend it to anyone, and say if you are unhappy and considering it, go for it because you really won't regret it.
