Hyperhidrosis / Excessive Sweating
Sweating is a natural and necessary function to control body temperature. However, excessive sweating (Hyperhidrosis) is an embarrassing condition that affects a surprising number of people. Heavy perspiration in the armpit area is not only uncomfortable but also unsightly, leading to confidence problems and restricted choices in what to wear.
The condition is quickly and effectively treated using BOTOX® in the underarm area. A series of injections into both armpits will take less than half an hour and will stop excessive sweating for around 6 months. With repeated treatments, the results last even longer.
Hyperhidrosis Treatment: Frequently Asked Questions
Who does it suit?
The treatment is suitable for both women and men and requires no preparation. As it becomes more widely known, it has become increasingly popular to stop the embarrassment of unsightly "damp patches"
How long does it take?
The treatment itself takes around half an hour. A series of tiny injections of BOTOX® will go into the area being treated. Over the next few days, the perspiration will gradually decrease until it practically stops for the next 6 months.
Where can I get the treatment?
Non-surgical procedures are carried out in all of The Hospital Group’s clinics and hospitals in the UK and Ireland by our experienced, non-surgical nurses.
What other treatments should I consider?
In the treatment of hyperhidrosis, where strong antiperspirants have been ineffective, BOTOX® is generally agreed to be the best route, providing a safer and more convenient option to the surgical options.
