Face Lift Surgery
Face lift surgery, also known as rhytidoplasty, can help to tighten the skin and rejuvenate your appearance. You may be considering a facelift due to ageing wrinkles, jowls or a general saggy appearance to the skin on the face and neck. A facelift can help with these.
Everyone’s physiology and requirements are different, so a facelift is always bespoke to each individual patient.
Face Lift Options
There are a wide variety of face lift options. We offer either a full facelift, a mini facelift or the one stitch lift, patients can discuss which option is the right one for them.
Facial surgery can be combined with blepharoplasty to tackle eye bags or lids, a brow lift or neck lift in order to achieve optimum results. Your surgeon can advise on what approach is right for you.
Face Lift Surgery Information
Step by Step – What a Face Lift Involves
Incisions usually begin above the hairline at the temples, follow the natural line in front of the ear, curve behind the earlobe into the crease behind the ear and into or along the lower scalp.
The arrow shows how the area is moved upwards. Facial, neck tissue and muscle may be separated, fat may be trimmed or suctioned and underlying muscle may be tightened.
After deep tissues are tightened, the excess skin is pulled up and back, trimmed and sutured into position. Most of the scars will be hidden within your hair and in the normal creases of your skin.
Diane Reeve and Christine Martin – Face Lift with Upper and Lower Blepheroplasty
“We are over the moon with our same day face lifts!”
Sisters Diane Reeve and Christine Martin had facelifts on the same day, and with the same surgeon, Mr Hassan Sulaiman. At first Diane and her sister Christine were keen to go abroad to get a facelift and their eyes corrected but this seemed like an expensive option so instead Diane spent a considerable amount of time on the internet researching cosmetic surgery and seeing the different prices for facelifts in the UK. Having been recommended The Hospital Group by a friend Diane felt she would be in safe hands with them.
Both Diane and her sister were conscious of their looks and had discussed getting surgery together for about 10 years. As they had a very close relationship they always discussed topics of this nature together and made the decision to get cosmetic surgery together. Neither wanted to get anything done when they were too young or to old and they felt that their 50s was the perfect age. Without the support of her sister Diane wouldn’t have gone ahead with the procedures and she believes they provided unconditional support to one another throughout the experience.
The best reaction was that of Diane’s sister who thought she looked great. In fact the pair frequently sit with each other and study each other’s faces, “it’s like looking in a mirror” and noticing the improvement in the eyes and lines of the face. Diane could look at her sister and think “that’s how I look. My eyes look so much better.”
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Who is the most suitable face lift patient?
The best facelift patient has jowls, loose neck skin and a general saggy appearance to the skin on the face and neck. If the patient also has lots of wrinkles, non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatment can be combined with a facelift for an improved overall result.
In this image, the patient’s neck is lifted and the cheekbones are more defined as a result of a face lift.
Q: Could I have eye rejuvenation at the same time as a facelift?
Yes, if that’s what you need, the best facelift results are achieved when these two procedures are combined resulting in an overall improvement. Your surgeon will advise on the best course of treatment for your individual requirements. As well as the face lift, we offer eyelid surgery, eye bag removal or brow lift.
Q: Will there be scarring after facial rejuvenation?
In the case of eye rejuvenation an incision is made close to the natural crease of the eyelid. During a facelift incisions are made in the natural crease lines. In both procedures post operative scarring will fade over time and become virtually undetectable.
Q: Will the wrinkles return?
During your medical consultation your surgeon will point out that the skin will continue to age. It is important that you understand that the ageing process will not stop after a facelift. However, Non-sugical treatments may be used in addition to enhance and/or prolong the benefits of a face lift. These are offered in all 22 clinics around the country.
If you would like to learn more regarding this cosmetic surgery procedure then why not book a free, no obligation consultation with a GMC registered cosmetic surgeon and dedicated patient care co-ordinator.
At your consultation you will be able to discuss the procedure in detail and ask any questions you may have. Many of our patient care co-ordinators have in fact had a procedure themselves so can share their experience with you first hand.
