Ziering Medical’s new hair transplant clinic at The Hospital Group’sclinic in Hammersmith has celebrated it’s first 3 months of operating by becoming the Company’s top performing hair transplant surgery clinic in only the 3rd month, performing more grafts than the main surgical centre based in the Midlands.

Ziering Medical working in partnership with The Hospital Group is the UK’s leading provider of hair transplants and opened the Hammersmith clinic in March 2011.

The Hammersmith clinic complements the Company’s Weymouth Street clinic but also offers hair transplant surgery on site.

A spokesperson for the company said: “We have a tremendous number of London-based patients for our hair transplant surgery.

Until now, those patients have had to travel up to the Midlands for surgery – a visit that they have been happy to make as our surgical standards are so high.

However, as hair transplant surgery is offered as a day case, having that closer to home is a massive benefit for our Southern patients.”

The Company has seen a big lift in interest this year due to the publicity surrounding celebrity hair transplant patients, including Gordon Ramsay, James Nesbitt, Jason Gardiner (who had his surgery with Dr Craig Ziering himself) and most recently Wayne Rooney.

The company explained: “We’ve actually had a 48% increase in enquiries for hair transplant surgery in the last 3 months, so having an additional surgical centre was essential. We have been looking for a suitable venue for some time and are really pleased with the Hammersmith clinic’s facilities and its accessible location.”

Ziering Medical offer free consultations for hair transplantation in The Hospital Group’s clinics around the UK. Surgery takes place in the Midlands or London (Hammersmith) and patients can return home on the same day.

After revelations last week that Wayne Rooney has had a hair transplant, Louis Walsh admitted on Loose Women that he would also have a hair transplantation and supported the idea of "having a bit of work done".

Speaking on the show, the only remaining X-factor judge from previous years, said "If I had to, I would go down that route. I think it's called maintenance" and added "If it keeps me on the X Factor I absolutely would".

Speaking on the show, the only remaining X-factor judge from previous years, said “If I had to, I would go down that route. I think it’s called maintenance” and added “If it keeps me on the X Factor I absolutely would”.

Fans should not expect to see any difference just yet, Louis said he has no plans for the hair transplant procedure at the moment. For a man who is nearly 59 years of age, he would appear to have a good amount of hair left, although he has admitted to having it coloured to get rid of the grey for his TV appearances.

Louis would be following in the footsteps of Wayne Rooney, James Nesbitt and also of Jason Gardiner, the Dancing on Ice judge who have all had successful hair transplants in the last couple of years.

The Hospital Group, working in partnership with Ziering Medical, is the UK’s leading provider of hair transplants.

A spokesperson for the company said: “Louis Walsh’s comments show just how interested people are in hair restoration at the moment. In 2011, we’ve already had 30% more enquiries than last year.

Our hair surgeons specialise in Follicular Unit Transplantation, the very latest transplantation technique which only uses natural hair taken from the patient’s “lifetime growth zone” at the back of the head. The hair is then artistically placed one follicle at a time to replace the areas suffering hair loss. The procedure is painstaking and demands utmost surgical precision as well as an appreciation of hair aesthetics on behalf of the surgeon.”

Back in 2009, Louis Walsh had cosmetic surgery, choosing a lower blepharoplasty, a procedure to remove droopy and ageing bags under his eyes.

The Hospital Group added “Male cosmetic surgery is one of the fastest growing areas of the market at the moment both in the UK and in the USA. We are seeing 35% more enquiries from men compared to last year for anti-ageing procedures such as eye bag removal like Louis’s, as well as popular options such as liposuction, rhinoplasty and gynaecomastia (man boob removal).”

The Hospital Group offer free consultations for cosmetic surgery and also hair transplantation in their clinics around the UK.

Following James Nesbitt, Gordon Ramsey and Jason Gardiner, Wayne Rooney is the latest celebrity to go public about having a hair transplant.

However, rather than waiting for the hair to regrow or letting the industry rumour-mill speculate about his hair, the England and Manchester United striker took the decision to announce it publicly via his own Twitter page last Thursday.

He tweeted: “Just to confirm to all my followers I have had a hair transplant. I was going bald at 25 why not. I’m delighted with the result.”

He later added: “It’s still a bit bruised and swollen when it dies down u will be first to see it. Anyone recommend any good hair gel. Haha.”

He was photographed leaving the hair transplant clinic in a baseball cap and hoodie last Thursday despite the heat, but further to his first couple of tweets and the subsequent interest from his fans he’s already posted out a photo of his newly transplanted hair. It’s so recently done that you can still see the Surgeon’s pen marks.

Wayne tweeted: “Hi all there’s my head. It will take a few months to grow. Still a bit bloody to. But that’s all normal. #hairwego.”

Coleen Rooney has also tweeted on the hair transplant, saying: “Hiya!! Yes waynes had his hair done! His own decision not me asking him, like alot are saying!! Pleased for him and it will look great x”.

The Hospital Group, working in partnership with Ziering Medical, is the UK’s leading provider of hair transplants, specialising in Follicular Unit Transplantation, the very latest transplantation technique
using only natural hair taken from the patient’s “lifetime hair” at the back of the head and placed one follicle at a time to replace the areas suffering hair loss. This is the technique that Wayne Rooney is understood to have chosen to reconstruct his early male pattern baldness.

A spokesperson for the company said: “Follicular unit transplantation delivers remarkably natural results as it uses the patient’s own hair and positions it carefully and microscopically for the best possible illusion of more hair.

Jason Gardiner visited us for the procedure and has had fantastic results. Jason chose to wait for his regrowth before dramatically unveiling his new hair on Dancing on Ice. We’ve noticed that Jason has already tweeted his fans to say “if me talking about my hair transplant has helped others then I am thrilled. Its made me incredibly happy and I hope @waynerooney is too.”

Wayne will have to wait a few months to see the full impact of his hair transplant. After the procedure, hair growth is dormant for a while, but after about 6 months, the newly transplanted hair should have resumed normal growth.

We look forward to seeing Wayne’s results and are delighted that he’s chosen to share his story so publicly. Many men are embarrassed about hair loss and don’t know where to turn. Celebrities talking publicly about hair transplantation helps people to understand the options available to them.”

Ziering Medical offer free hair consultations in The Hospital Group’s network of clinics nationwide. Follicular unit hair transplantation is carried out as a day case in specially equipped clinics in the Midlands and Hammersmith, London. The company only use top hair surgeons.

The Group has seen a 37% increase in enquiries already this year, due to the increase in public awareness of hair loss and hair transplantation.

Cuts to the National Health Service have started to bite and cosmetic surgery is one of the first areas to suffer.

For many years, the restrictions on who qualifies for NHS cosmetic surgery have become tighter in order to ensure that limited budgets are directed more to areas of medical than aesthetic need. With less money to play with, this area has come under even greater pressure.

The restrictions on who qualifies for NHS cosmetic surgery have always been tight, as it is classed as non-essential. Over recent years, the guidelines have become even tighter in order to ensure that limited budgets are directed more to areas of medical than aesthetic need.

However, as we enter the new financial year, with significantly less money to play with, this area has come under even greater pressure.

There is a growing group of PCTs who now do not pay for any patients to have minor surgical procedures that are deemed cosmetic rather than clinically necessary, or only do so in “exceptional” cases.

Warwickshire PCT has stopped removing benign skin lesions, hair rest0ration, arm lift, thigh lift, tattoo removal and treatment of acne scarring.

Meanwhile, the private sector continues to see enquiries grow as demand for cosmetic surgery is rising and the NHS is not an option for most people.

Latest figures from The Hospital Group, UK leaders in cosmetic surgery, weight loss surgery and hair transplantation, show a rise in all areas.

Cosmetic surgery enquiries have risen by 19% year on year

Arm and thigh lift enquiries have more than trebled

Mole removal enquiries are up by 187%

Hair loss restoration and hair transplant enquiries have gone up by 22%

There are 20% more patients seeking weight loss with a gastric band

The Hospital Group’s CEO, David Ross, said “We have always worked alongside the NHS, providing cosmetic surgery and hair restoration for those patients who want the treatment and would not consider or would not qualify for NHS treatment. Generally speaking, our work is of an aesthetic nature and medically would be considered non-essential. However, having their hair restored, losing weight or even having a troublesome mole removed does make a dramatic difference to our patients lives and their sense of well-being.

In recent years, we have seen increasing numbers of patients who may have previously qualified for NHS treatment, but due to the “postcode lottery”, stricter guidelines on criteria and lengthy waiting lists have brought more patients into the private sector – as well as an increase in those who want cosmetic surgery.

For patients considering a surgical procedure, our Surgeons are completely dedicated to aesthetic work. We perform literally thousands of procedures each year in cosmetic surgery, hair restoration and weight loss surgery and understand the very individual requirements of each patient.

We also provide essential aftercare to ensure that patients get the best possible results. In cosmetic surgery, we include a lifetime of free aftercare with each procedure; while our weight loss surgery patients benefit from 2 years one to one specialist dietitian support to help them work with their gastric band, sleeve or bypass to ensure they lose weight safely and effectively. 99% of our patients succeed in losing weight with a gastric band.”

As the weekend press revealed photos of a puffy-faced Gordon Ramsay leaving an exclusive Beverly Hills hair transplant clinic just before the New Year, speculation began immediately as to what he's had done. Rumours suggest that he's invested in a 12-hour follicular unit hair transplant.
Although the press have criticised him because you can't see the results yet, this is not a concern to The Hospital Group's resident hair expert Dr Art Katona, who explains that after a hair transplant, the relocated hair follicles are stunned for a few months before they start to grow again, so you would not expect to see instant results. This is perfectly normal: “It could be 12 months before he sees the benefit,” he said. “This treatment gives a natural effect which shouldn’t be obvious to the untrained eye.”

This procedure uses patient’s own natural hair, harvested from the back of the head where it is programmed to grow “for life” and painstakingly transplanted one follicle at a time over the thinning areas – classically the scalp, crown and receding hairline. Using the patient’s own hair means a really natural result.

Ramsay has previously confessed to trying to having fillers to smooth out the deep wrinkles in his chin and had cosmetic dentistry last summer. He said: “Simon Cowell suggested that now I’m a success in America, I should do something.” It seems that like many other men in the public eye, he has chosen to preserve his hair using the latest hair transplantation techniques.

Following recent media stories of James Nesbitt and Rob Brydon’s hair transplants, the procedure is becoming much better known and demand is increasing as a consequence of that.

David Ross, CEO, reported “We saw enquiries for hair restoration rise by 100% in the last quarter of 2010, with hair drug therapy enquiries increasing by 176%. 80% of the enquiries are still from men, but we’ve seen a 36% increase in enquiries from females, as this procedure can also help with female hair loss.”

The Hospital Group is the UK’s leading provider of hair transplants, using only natural hair transplant techniques for excellent results. Prices start at around £3,000 and the procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic as a day case.

Scientists from Berlin have managed to grow the world’s first artificial hair follicles by using animal stem cells.

Although the hair grown was somewhat thinner than normal, experts are confident that this technique can be used to help hair loss sufferers grow new hair from their own stem cells and have it implanted in any bald or thinning spots of hair.

This pioneering new research could mean that hairless celebrities such as Harry Hill and football legend Sir Bobby Charlton could soon sport a full bodied and flowing mane of hair.

For many men hair loss can be a distressing time causing feelings of depression and anxiety. Often hereditary, thinning hair and baldness and can start as early as the teenage years but most commonly starts to affects men in their 30s.

For those looking to gain a fuller head of hair, The Hospital Group offers pioneering new hair transplant procedures in state-of-the-art facilities.

A leading hair transplant surgeon at The Hospital Group said: “For many men and women, losing their hair can be a highly worrying and upsetting time. They feel a strong sense of panic when they see that their hair is thinning and worry about the way they look.

“Hair loss can significantly reduce a person’s confidence and affect their daily lives. At The Hospital Group we offer hair transplant surgery which can change a person’s life for the better and achieve outstanding results that give a fuller head of hair and the patient their confidence back.”

Like most men, the 45 year old became concerned over the state of his thinning locks confessing that he became fixated with his hair and had a fear of going bald.

In a video about hair transplants the talented actor said: “Several years ago, I began losing my hair and like a lot of men it was a major concern to me, in fact it was practically an obsession. But, also I’m an actor so I’m in the public eye a lot and I really felt that my hair loss could affect my career prospects.

“… I have had two hair transplants and I am very pleased with the results. In fact, I’d go as far as to say they’ve changed my life.”

For many men the thinning of their hair can be life changing and in some cases lead to bouts of depression as well as feelings of self consciousness and a loss of confidence.

In extreme cases male hair loss can start as early as the teenage years but for most it develops in their late twenties or thirties with hair most commonly disappearing from the temples and crown of the head.

For those that are worried about their hair, The Hospital Group, the UK’s number one hair transplant provider, offers a range of follicular hair techniques.

A spokesperson from UK hair transplant leadss The Hospital Group said: “For both women and men the loss of hair can be a very emotional and traumatic experience which can be hard to deal with. It can cause people to feel self conscious and lead to loss of self esteem but The Hospital Group can provide expert advice with experienced hair transplant surgeons.

“Hair transplants are becoming increasingly popular and the techniques used have advanced substantially. At The Hospital Group only state-of-the-art techniques are used to achieve the best possible results and men and women are now keen to benefit from the amazing results of hair restoration that are on offer.”

Following last year’s successful business growth into Spain, the company is further building its presence in the UK with the addition of a brand new clinic and surgical facility.

Now offering the latest in hair transplant technology and the most advanced surgical techniques, the clinic will primarily focus on hair restoration surgery under the leadership of renowned surgeon to the stars and Hospital Group Medical Director of Hair Restoration, Dr. Craig L. Ziering.

With two new state-of-the-art operating theatres personally designed by leading hair transplant surgeon, Dr. Ziering, and equipped with scientifically advanced Ziering technology, we provide the ultimate hair transplant surgery experience and results for our patients.

The Hammersmith facility will also offer patients non surgical treatments such as BOTOX™ and fillers as well as offering consultations for a full range of surgical procedures. The clinic will additionally offer the most up to date laser treatments, with further plans to create an innovative “anti-ageing centre” and surgical facility.

Hammersmith was chosen specifically to accommodate the demand for cosmetic surgery within the surrounding areas and the new surgical facility will enable The Hospital Group to deliver a more localised and convenient service to London and the South East.

This latest move adds to the Group’s capacity at an exciting time of expansion and The Hospital Group now has nineteen UK clinics and four clinics in Ireland. David Ross, Chief Executive of The Hospital Group, said: “Following last year’s expansion, we have not rested on our laurels.

If you think hair loss is a condition which only affects men when they hit their 50s, think again, as more than a third of 25 to 35-year-old females suffer from the devastating condition.
There are a number of reasons why premature hair loss is now increasingly common in women, including crash dieting, low iron levels, hormone changes post-pregnancy and certain medications.

Genes also play a part, with the likelihood of bald patches increasing if a woman’s mother also has thin hair and for many, it can have a profound effect.

Leading psychologist Dr Linda Papadopoulos said: “In our culture, hair is bound up in notions of womanhood and sexual attractiveness. Plus, we live in such an appearance-driven society that our looks often become one of the largest factors contributing to our self-esteem”

We all naturally lose between 50 to 100 strands of hair a day, but how can you know when you are losing too much?

The simplest way to judge excess shedding is if you see more hairs than usual falling on a daily basis – over a period of at least a month. Often a change of diet can restore hair back to its former glory, but don’t despair, if eating well still doesn’t help, there are a number of cutting edge treatments available at The Hospital Group.

The Hospital Group carry out more hair transplant procedures than anyone else in the UK, using the very latest Follicular Unit Techniques and non-surgical therapies.

Leading hair transplant surgeon, Dr Peter Williams from The Hospital Group said: “For both women and men the loss of hair can be a very emotional experience but The Hospital Group can provide expert advice with experienced hair transplant surgeons.

Providing expert advice and assistance, The Hospital Group carries out more hair transplantations than any other clinic in the UK, recognising that hair restoration is an art just as much as a surgical procedure.

When an older man gets a big sports car or a fast new motor bike many jokingly see it as a ‘mid-life crisis’ but new research reveals that the crisis is in actual fact a very real condition.

Known as the ‘male menopause’ the condition affects around five million men with symptoms including weight gain, lack of sex drive and mood swings. It is though that a shocking 95 per cent of men are suffering from the condition but don’t even realise it.

But perhaps one of the most worrying symptoms of the condition is hair loss and the occurrence of bald patches due to a lack of testosterone being produced.

For many men the thinning of their hair can be life changing and in some cases lead to bouts of depression as well as feelings of self consciousness and a loss of confidence.

For some men hair loss can start as early as their teenage years but for most it develops in their late twenties or thirties with hair most commonly disappearing from the temples and crown of the head.

A recent survey revealed that hair loss is the second most worried about issue amongst older men. The survey looked at 2,000 men and revealed that 40 per cent of them were anxious and worried about their hair falling out or getting bald patches.

For those that are worried about their hair, The Hospital Group, the UK’s number one hair transplant provider, offers a range of follicular hair techniques.

Since The Hospital Group was established in 1992, it has grown from a small pharmaceutical company to one of the UK’s foremost weight loss surgery and cosmetic surgery providers.
