The Hospital Group’s Bariatric Surgeon, Mr Audun Sigurdsson, presented at this year’s prestigious IFSO (International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders) in Lausanne 2010; the Swiss Study Group for Morbid Obesity.
He presented a new study on scarless gastric banding technique – the early results of a new approach to laparoscopic gastric banding using modified incisions sited away from the anterior abdominal wall using conventional laparoscopy and instruments.
The advantages of this new technique are a shorter operating time with high patient satisfaction with the cosmetic outcome. In follow-up calls, over 85% of the patients classed the cosmetic outcome as “excellent”.
