As the hot summer days draw closer many men fear going to the beach and taking their tops off only to expose their “moobs”.Â
For many men getting rid of fatty deposits around their breasts can be a long and hard process. Quite often the fatty tissue simply won’t budge, leaving men with what is known as “man boobs” or “moobs”.Â
The condition known as gynaecomastia, can cause serious embarrassment for men across the UK, resulting in a lack in self confidence and enhancing negative body issues.Â
However, many men are now doing something about their body hang ups with large numbers turning to the surgeon’s knife to win back that confidence and get the body they desire.Â
Figures released by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) show that surgery for gynaecomastia increased by a staggering 80 per cent last year.Â
Those who want to achieve body confidence in 2010 should come for a consultation with The Hospital Group.Â
Marius Muller, a former gynaecomastia patient at The Hospital Group, said: “Before surgery I used to hate seeing myself topless in the mirror. The surgery not only changed the way I felt about myself and body, but also how people perceive me.Â
“It gave me that added confidence which I lacked for so many years. Now, I can’t wait to get my top off on the beach.”Â
David Ross, Chief Executive of The Hospital Group said: “In most cases man boobs are made up of just fat, in which case it is easy to shift weight with exercise and also weight loss. However, in some cases man boobs are made up of an overgrowth of glandular tissue and in order to get rid of this a patient would need to undergo surgery.”Â
As well as the male breast reduction procedure, The Hospital Group also perform a number of other procedures helping men achieve their ideal body, including gastric bands, abdominoplasty and liposuction.Â
