As pictures of Naomi Campbell are released showing hair loss, our hair surgeon Dr Peter Williams is invited to comment. 

Dr Williams said “it is very common in people who wear braids and tight buns as well as extensions.”

It is sobering news for those with hair extensions – Paris Hilton, Victoria Beckham and Britney Spears are all said to have suffered the condition. 

It can take between 3-12 months for hair to grow back in moderate cases, but if the pulling continues, the hair will never grow back and the only option is a hair transplant.
