Sports Stars Tackle Hair Loss

Soccer superstar Ryan Giggs has been undergoing laser hair therapy – to help replace his thinning hairline.  The Manchester United wing man has been undergoing the treatment in a bid to recapture his full head of bouncing curls. Along with hair replacement therapy which is said to help stimulate hair follicles, Giggs is also using special shampoo capsules and liquid re-growth formula to help replenish his tresses.

Other famous names who have undergone hair treatment include fellow sportsmen, rugby player Austin Healey and Australian Cricketer Shane Warne; as well as Wayne Rooney at the age of just 24. Most recently, Dr Christain Jessen, from Channel 4s popular Embarrassing Bodies series championed the hair transplant.  Dr Christian said: “I’m delighted that I’ve had it done. I don’t worry about getting older and the effect on my looks, but I’ve always hated my hairline.”

For some men hair loss can start as early as their teenage years but for most it develops in their late twenties or thirties with hair most commonly disappearing from the temples and crown of the head.

Whilst many men appear unfazed with their thinning tresses, some male baldness can cause considerable emotional distress, a lack of self confidence and, in some cases, depression.

Dr Peter Williams from The Hospital Group said: “For both women and men the loss of hair can be a very emotional experience. The Hospital Group can provide an advice service about the best steps forward for people who want to change the way they feel about their hair loss.

“Hair transplants for both men and women are becoming more popular- the techniques have advanced and men and women are now keen to benefit from the amazing results of hair restoration that The Hospital Group can offer.”

Providing expert advice and assistance, The Hospital Group carries out more hair transplantations than any other clinic in the UK, recognising that hair restoration is an art just as much as a surgical procedure.
