British mothers have been urged against using weight loss girdles- after doctors said they could be a risk to women’s lives. Increasing numbers of Brit mums are following stars such as Angelina Jolie in investing in a girdle to help them lose weight and take inches off their waistline. But the Royal College of Midwives has now warned that the Cinch and similar abdominal binders could be a risk to women’s lives. The makers of the Cinch claim it can help new mothers regain their figures ‘by tightening all the abdominal muscles with the dual front panels and further cinching with double side wings’.
A spokeSman for the RCM said: “It is not safe to wear them just after giving birth. I wouldn’t recommend it from a medical perspective.”
