Body Parts we Love to Hate…

Wobbly bellies have been revealed as women’s biggest flaw in a new study.

More than 59 per cent of the nation’s fed-up women would like to banish their flabby midriffs, which leave them feeling self-confident and unsexy. Instead, they would rather have less fat and a set of toned muscles in its place.

The second body bugbear unveiled in the study of 3,000 Brits by plastic surgeons The Hospital Group, was large thighs, with 42 per cent wishing they had slimmer legs.

A third would like to banish their muffin top, while 27 per cent would like to lose their bingo wings and another 27 per cent wish they had a better skin condition. Double chins, saggy boobs and wrinkles on the face were other body hang-ups suffered by British women.

Just four per cent of women claimed there was absolutely nothing they would like to change about their body.

However researchers found that men don’t share the same view with more than a third saying there is absolutely nothing they would like to change about their partner’s appearance.

A spokesman for The Hospital Group said: ‘’As we approach the New Year, women are turning their thoughts to what things they would like to change in 2010. For many, their biggest concern is their appearance, with stomachs at the top of the list. We have already had a lot of enquires about liposuction and tummy tucks for 2010 so hopefully next year will see the confidence of women rise as they become happier with their looks.’’

Researchers also revealed that four per cent of women are planning to have cosmetic surgery in 2010, with 12 per cent of those saying it’s already booked. A boob job is the most wanted procedure, closely followed by a breast reduction and tummy tuck. Liposuction and a nose job completed the top five.

One in 10 women have even been given money towards their plastic surgery dreams for Christmas, or had the procedure paid for completely as their gift from their partner or parents.

And the study found that the main reason for planning plastic surgery in 2010 is because women are unhappy with their appearance and lack confidence. But 23 per cent want to impress a man and another 21 per cent think it will help advance their career. Seven per cent even admitted they are considering cosmetic surgery simply because their other half wants them to.

David Ross added: “Liposuction and other cosmetic procedures can help people to change their life and feel better about their bodies.  Our consultants ensure that, as well as having an absolute need for the procedure, the patient understands that surgery isn’t a miracle cure and they would need to work to achieve the healthier lifestyle they desire”

Since The Hospital Group was established in 1992, it has risen to become the UK’s biggest weight loss surgery provider, performing more gastric procedures last year than the NHS.
