Mummy Makeover

Cosmetic Surgery after Pregnancy & Childbirth

Pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding put an incredible strain on your body. For 9 months, your body is not your own - it is a shared space while your body nurtures your growing baby. Your stomach must expand to fit in another human being and by the end of a pregnancy your waist size (if you dare to measure it!) could be double what it was before.

After childbirth, most women find that even if they lose the weight, their bodies are "different" somehow and they are unhappy with stretchmarks, loose skin around the abdomen or lost volume in their breasts. Cosmetic surgery procedures such as a tummy tuck, liposuction and breast uplifts can help with post pregnancy hang-ups.

"Mummy Makeover" Cosmetic Surgery After Children

It's important to let time and nature heal your body after pregnancy and childbirth, but cosmetic surgery post-children is a real growth area as more women turn to surgery to regain their body shape.

What "Mummy Makeover" Treatment Do I Need?

It's a very individual decision and no surgery should be seen as a quick-fix solution. Your body does need time to recover from the stress of pregnancy and childbirth before you consider surgery. However, these procedures are popular among women "post-children":-

  • Breast Augmentation - if your breasts are left saggy and deflated after breast-feeding and/or pregnancy, then the addition of an implant can be very effective in restoring the volume and bringing back a younger, perter look. A very natural shape can be achieved using implants, but if you are looking to go bigger, then that can be achieved too. It's a personal decision, but our surgeons are used to advising patients on what will suit their bodies and meet their requirements best.

  • Breast Uplift - depending on the shape of your breasts, you may find that a breast uplift is more appropriate to bring back the form. This will remove excess skin and lift the breast. This procedure can also be combined with the addition of an implant if additional volume is required.

  • Tummy Tuck - where excess skin is left after childbirth, an abdominoplasty is very effective in restoring a flat stomach. Our expert cosmetic surgeons will carefully remove the excess skin and fat to create a smoother profile so you can wear skinny jeans with pride!

  • Liposuction - if you find that you are left with stubborn areas of fat, liposculpture can remove these to create a smoother sleeker profile. This technique can be used in a number of areas, but post-children, popular choices include the stomach, thighs, flanks or back.
