Rebecca's Story

At 12 I weighed 13 stone!
"I have always struggled with my weight. At 12 I weighed a staggering 13 stone and
suffered from severe depression leading to an attempted suicide."
I tried every form of dieting
"As an adult I have tried every form of dieting from diet pills to hypnotherapy.
Obesity affected my confidence and ability to interact in the community – in fact
so low was my confidence that I tended to stay in and comfort eat. I would research
job opportunities but failed to apply due to my state of mind."
I have now lost 8 Stone so far
"After years of dieting, losing weight and then putting it back on (usually even
more than before) I decided to have a gastric band fitted by The Hospital Group
in September 05. As a result of having the Gastric Band, I have now lost 8 stone
so far and my weight is being managed. Finally my food addiction is being controlled
for the first time in my life."
I now have much more energy
"I've got so much more energy and I no longer
get out of breath. Having the Band allows me to eat what I enjoy, just less of it to satisfy my appetitie!"
I have much more quality time with my daughter
"I now love the fact that I am so much more involved with my daughter as a result
of losing weight. I now have the energy to take my daughter out a lot more – we
go swimming and walking and visit the Zoo. It has enabled me to have much more quality
time with her, she loves it and so do I!"
