Andy's Story
Although Andy was a classic example of a yo-yo dieter, he has now at last achieved
success with his weight loss, and is delighted with his new look.
My weight problem started early
"My weight problem started from when I was only young, and ever since I can remember,
I have always struggled with my weight."
17 years of trying to lose weight
"Over the last 17 years I must have tried every possible way of losing weight, from
attending various weight-loss clubs and organisations, exercising and all kinds
of fad diets that have been in fashion over the years. I have succeeded in many
diets but
I am the classic example of a yo-yo dieter. I have always managed to lose
weight but I always put more weight on afterwards, which was so frustrating! The
idea of weight loss surgery first came to me when I was watching a TV documentary
on the topic, and I thought instantly, That's for me!
Support from my family and friends
"My family and closest friends have been fantastic and so supportive, especially
my gorgeous wife who I could not have not done this without. Some people have been
a bit negative in regards to my weight loss, which to be honest is quite comical
as who'd have thought I would ever hear people comment, "you are looking a little
bit skinny!" People didn't believe I had the will power, but I have proved them
wrong!"
"What I really love is being able to walk into any high street male fashion boutiques
pick up a t-shirt from the rack and already know it's going to fit me! It doesn't
sound exciting to your average person but for someone who has always struggled when
buying new clothes, even from a young age, it's great! I look forward to enjoying
simple things such as attending my sons sports day, and entering the dads race!"
The impact on my personality
"Nobody could ever have imagined the impact it has had on my personality. I was
someone who had
always appeared to be outgoing, but it was a great act as I was always extremely
conscious about my weight, but now it feels like the real me has had the opportunity
to shine. In fact to put it into context... I feel I was a skinny person hiding away
in a fat man's body."
